Explanation of the meaning of the industry terms UTP, FTP, SFTP

Unshielded twisted pair (UTP): UTP has no metal shielding material, only one layer of insulating rubber is wrapped, the price is relatively cheap, and the networking is sensitive. The advantage of the circuit is that the flame retardant effect is good and it is not easy to cause fire.
STP, Shielded Twisted Pair shielded network cable; FTP, Foiled Twisted Pair, aluminum foil shielded network cable; the former is a generalized name, the latter is a narrow term. But in fact, the shielded network cable is now the aluminum foil shielded network cable, so STP and FTP are actually the same. Compared to UTP, FTP/STP only has a layer of aluminum foil on the outside of the core, which is intended to reduce the attenuation of the signal. Shopping malls are less popular.
SFTP: Double shielded network cable. The structure of this wire is based on the aluminum foil of FTP/STP, plus a layer of tinned copper woven mesh, and the outermost is the PVC outer cover. Because it has a layer of tinned copper woven mesh, it can greatly reduce the external magnetic field and signal interference, and can also reduce the attenuation of internal signals and add the tension of the cable. The drawback is that the line is very soft and expensive; the price of this line is typically twice that of UTP. This line is only used in special environments. Very little usage.
